Live national decision tool

Is Cadillac Mountain sunrise worth the early drive?

Sunrise time alone is not enough. This combines the solar time with the NWS cloud signal and Acadia’s reservation requirement so you can decide whether to set the alarm.

The decision

What this tool is trying to answer

A sunrise trip has three gates: the sun has to rise at a known time, the sky has to give you a chance to see it, and you need legal access to the summit road during the reservation season. This tool keeps those decisions together.

  • The sunrise time is calculated for Cadillac Mountain, not copied from a generic city forecast.
  • Cloud wording near sunrise is summarized from the NWS hourly forecast.
  • During the in-season reservation period, check the official Acadia reservation page before driving up.

How to use this result

Make the decision from the status, freshness and evidence together

Start with the current decision, then check the timestamp and source excerpt before changing a route, reservation or departure time. A green-looking condition is only useful when the underlying source is current. If the tool returns VERIFY or LIVE SOURCE UNAVAILABLE, open the official source instead of treating an old reading as an all-clear. Recheck close to departure because roads, alerts, water levels and mountain weather can change after you first plan the trip.
