NPS identifies the Summersville Dam tailwaters as a place to watch rafters and boaters. Other access points are shown as river access, not automatically as spectator recommendations.
The tailwater gauge helps detect when the river begins responding below the dam. USACE operations can independently confirm release-level outflow. Belva measures downstream discharge. Rapid and public-access arrival windows remain modeled, with uncertainty widened downstream.
