Projects

Work built to solve real problems, in 911 operations, AI infrastructure, and the Great Lakes.

Most of what is here started as something built to handle a specific operational or personal problem. The 911 AI deployment came out of a focus on operational efficiency, getting dispatchers focused on emergencies by routing everything else to a system that could handle it. The Great Lakes Gazette started because there was no good daily summary of what was moving on the lakes. Freighter View Farms began because seed saving required documentation. The tools and infrastructure that followed came out of the same impulse: something was needed, so it got built. None of it was designed to be a product.

Saginaw County 911, AI Non-Emergency Call Deployment

Led as Executive Director, Saginaw County 911 · Launched August 2024

In August 2024, Saginaw County 911 launched one of Michigan's first AI-powered non-emergency call routing systems, a live deployment handling real call volume from day one. The system, built on GPT-Trainer's AVA platform, handled calls about road conditions, fireworks schedules, court phone numbers, and noise complaints, routing them away from human dispatchers so the team could stay focused on emergencies. The AI transferred immediately to a human if it detected emergency need.

The project required solving staffing, union communication, vendor selection, and public messaging simultaneously, not just installing software. The operational design, scope decisions, and outcomes are documented in the case studies page. The media record, including TV and NPR coverage, is on the media page. NENA published the account of this work as the cover story of The Call, Issue 51.

NENA The Call, Cover Story, Issue 51

Authored · January 2025 · National publication

"The Unstoppable Wave of Artificial Intelligence", a four-page cover feature for NENA's national publication, written from direct deployment experience at Saginaw County 911. NENA, the National Emergency Number Association, is the primary professional body for 911 directors and coordinators across the United States and Canada. The Call is read by thousands of PSAP leaders nationwide. A cover byline is the highest-profile editorial placement in the 911 industry. The piece was subsequently shared independently by Northland Business Systems on LinkedIn, unprompted third-party amplification from an unaffiliated industry organization.

Prepared, 911 Audio Collector Deployments

Solutions Consultant · October 2025 – present

As a Solutions Consultant at Prepared, Chris Izworski deploys audio capture and analysis hardware at public safety answering points nationwide. The work involves integrating Prepared's systems with the call handling equipment already inside dispatch centers, Motorola VESTA, Intrado Viper, Solacom, and others, which requires understanding both the technical stack and the operational environment of the center. Serial connections, SIP/RTP configuration, CDR data feeds, and SPAN port mirroring are the daily vocabulary. More than a decade of running 911 centers is what makes that vocabulary useful in a conversation with a dispatch director deciding whether to trust a new system on their floor.

Great Lakes Gazette

Publisher · Daily maritime newsletter · great-lakes-gazette.vercel.app

The Great Lakes Gazette is a daily maritime newsletter covering vessel movements, port reports, water levels, and lake conditions across all five Great Lakes. It runs automatically every morning, pulling live AIS vessel tracking data, NOAA water level readings, and National Weather Service marine forecasts, then generating a daily brief. The whole system runs on a daily cron job and costs roughly twenty cents a month to operate. It is the kind of thing that is easy to want and annoying to build, which is exactly why it got built.

Freighter View Farms

Founder · Seed-saving blog and garden · Saginaw Bay, Michigan

Freighter View Farms is a heirloom seed-saving project and gardening blog based on Saginaw Bay in Bay City, Michigan. The garden grows open-pollinated vegetable and flower varieties adapted to Zone 6a growing conditions. The blog documents what works, what fails, and what is worth trying again, covering seed saving technique, planting schedules, soil work, and Great Lakes gardening in a voice that reflects actually doing the work rather than describing it from the outside. The photography across the site is taken from the garden and the waterfront.

AgentBase

Open registry · CC0 licensed · MCP-compatible

AgentBase is an open registry of agent instruction files, system prompts, skills, workflows, domain packs, and safety filters for AI agents. Files are CC0-licensed, MCP-compatible, and free to use or modify. The registry grew out of the same work that built the Saginaw County AI deployment: building reliable instructions for AI systems that operate in structured, consequential environments requires iteration and documentation, and it made sense to make that documentation reusable. The Glama listing and npm package make it easy to pull files directly into agent development workflows.
