Why choose this waterfall?

An intermediate cascade between Manabezho and Nawadaha, experienced as part of the Presque Isle River walking circuit. Michigan GIS spells the site 'Mannido Falls' (state feature 92); DNR's park map uses Manido. It is one of three separate Presque Isle River waterfalls.

For a visit focused on the scenery, consider the signed approach and actual walking requirements before adding another stop. The nearest waterfall point on a map is not necessarily the closest public visitor entrance.

How to plan a worthwhile visit

Signed Presque Isle River East/West River trails link waterfalls. DNR park map lists the West River Trail at 1 mile and East River Trail at 1.4 miles; neither is a certified walk distance specifically to Manido.

Plan the three waterfall viewpoints as one walking outing rather than three independent parking stops. Winter roads and platforms may close.

Check posted signs, permit requirements and current park closures; this guide reports published routes, not a live trail-open feed. Never trespass or bypass closure barriers.

Seasonal decisions

High river flow changes safe viewing positions; winter ice never makes cliff-edge approaches safe.

Spring runoff and hardwood autumn color; bedrock is slippery when wet. are typical visual conditions rather than a forecast. Snowmelt and rain can change water volume and trail footing. No mapped hydrography feature confirms current parking conditions, ice safety or waterfall discharge.
