Can you cross now, what is traffic doing, does the wind restriction affect your vehicle, and what will the eastbound toll cost? Official MDTA rules lead; CHART and NWS explain the trip around them.

Official rulebook

What MDTA wind levels mean

Official policy ↗
Wind Warning30–39 mph sustained for 10+ minutes, or gusts persistently above 30 mph over 15 minutes. Trailers, motorcycles, roof cargo and other wind-sensitive vehicles are advised to use caution.
Limited Restrictions40–49 mph sustained, or persistent gusts above 40 mph. House trailers, empty box trailers and vehicles police determine unsafe are prohibited.
Full RestrictionsOver 50 mph sustained, or persistent gusts above 50 mph. Only automobiles, pickups, flatbed trailers, commercial buses and heavy-laden tractor/trailers are permitted. Tractor-box combinations under 64,000 lb are prohibited.
Traffic Hold / ClosureOver 55 mph sustained, or persistent gusts above 55 mph. MDTA may discontinue all traffic movement.
These thresholds describe when MDTA says warnings or restrictions would be implemented; they are not a client-side trigger. Follow lane-control signs, police instructions and current MDTA messages at the bridge.

Why this page exists

One decision surface instead of six tabs

Maryland publishes strong official information, but a traveler normally has to combine MDTA wind rules and advisories with CHART incidents, speed sensors, cameras, road-weather stations, message signs and toll tables. This tool keeps the authority boundaries intact while putting those facts in the order a driver actually needs them.
