Can I still plant spring bulbs?
Decide whether tulips, daffodils, crocus, hyacinths and alliums can still be planted using actual soil readings and local seasonal context.
Soil temperature comes from your thermometer, never inferred from air temperature.

Why the decision works this way
Wisconsin Extension recommends planting spring-flowering bulbs in approximately 50–55°F soil before it freezes. Warmer winter areas can require species- and cultivar-specific chilling.
Read university extension planting guidance.
Official context: NOAA climate normals and NWS weather data. Historical frost dates are regional, not a soil temperature measurement.
