Peace Bridge Wait Times Live

See the current official Peace Bridge border delay before you commit to I-190 or the QEW. This page keeps Canada-bound CBSA waits and U.S.-bound CBP waits separate, then adds the live bridge picture, NEXUS and truck context, tolls, and the route facts that matter at the southern Niagara crossing.

Peace Bridge Live Camera

The Peace Bridge Authority publishes multiple live video views. The camera is visual context for deck and plaza conditions; it does not replace the direction-specific customs wait above.

How long is the Peace Bridge wait?

The live number above comes from the agency that controls the direction you selected. Entering Canada uses Canada Border Services Agency reporting; entering the United States uses U.S. Customs and Border Protection reporting. Those two directions can be very different at the same moment. Passenger, NEXUS and commercial streams also stay separate, because a truck line or trusted-traveler lane cannot safely be substituted for a standard passenger wait.

Peace Bridge is the southern Niagara River crossing and the natural border route for trips already moving through Buffalo, Fort Erie and the QEW. That geography matters. Rainbow Bridge can show a lower customs number and still be a poor choice if reaching Niagara Falls requires a meaningful detour. The main Niagara bridge decision tool applies that route-switch guardrail instead of sorting the posted numbers and calling the smallest one “best.”

Peace Bridge tolls and payment

Tolls are collected Canada-bound. The live summary above shows the current planning rate from the bridge data used by this tool. The Peace Bridge Authority publishes a lower E-ZPass passenger rate than the standard passenger rate, and its current plaza information should be checked before travel because payment policies and rates can change independently of border processing.

There is no bridge toll entering the United States. Customs processing still applies in both directions, so “no toll” does not mean “no delay.” Commercial vehicles should also confirm the appropriate truck toll class and lane program rather than using the passenger rate as a proxy.

Who should use the Peace Bridge?

  • Buffalo / Fort Erie / QEW trips.
The bridge is positioned for the southern corridor and is usually the most natural Niagara crossing when the route already runs through Buffalo.
  • Commercial trucks.
Peace is a full-service commercial crossing. Rainbow is not available to commercial trucks.
  • Pedestrians and bicycles.
Peace publishes pedestrian crossing instructions and supports bicycle travel, unlike Whirlpool and pedestrian-restricted Lewiston–Queenston.
  • NEXUS travelers.
Dedicated service is published, but lane hours and the current trusted-traveler wait should be checked separately from standard passenger traffic.

Why the Peace Bridge camera and wait can disagree

A camera may show visible traffic on the deck or at a plaza while the agency reports a modest processing delay, or the reverse. They are measuring different things. The official wait estimates customs processing for a traffic stream. A webcam shows only what is visible in its field of view and may include toll, approach, lane-changing or non-customs traffic. Treat the wait as the measured border signal and the camera as a visual check before committing.

Peace Bridge crossing questions

Is the Peace Bridge open 24 hours?

The bridge normally operates 24 hours a day. Individual lanes, NEXUS service, construction patterns or incidents can vary, so check the live report and operator page immediately before entering the approach.

Is Peace Bridge faster than Rainbow Bridge?

Sometimes the posted customs wait is shorter, but that does not automatically make the total trip faster. Peace and Rainbow serve different corridors. Use the Niagara comparison tool when you are deciding whether a wait difference is large enough to justify changing routes.

Can trucks use the Peace Bridge?

Yes. Peace supports commercial traffic and publishes truck processing information. Rainbow Bridge does not permit commercial trucks, which is why truck travelers should compare Peace with Lewiston–Queenston rather than treating all four Niagara crossings as interchangeable.

Can I walk across the Peace Bridge?

Pedestrian crossing is supported under the bridge authority's published procedures. Check the current operator instructions before arriving because inspection routing and access details are operational information, not a customs-wait estimate.
