NOAA/NOHRSC: national measured context

NOHRSC publishes national station reports for snow depth and snow-water equivalent with coordinates. These observations are explicitly unofficial and provisional, so the tool shows station distance and never treats them as exact local truth.

NRCS SNOTEL: deeper mountain-station truth

Where SNOTEL exists, AWDB adds snow depth and SWE history from a dedicated snow-monitoring station. SNOTEL is valuable but regionally concentrated, so lack of SNOTEL is not interpreted as lack of snow.

NWS: what the atmosphere does next

The local NWS hourly forecast supplies the next 48 hours of temperature and precipitation wording. The tool counts above-freezing, freezing, rain-signal and snow-signal hours without inventing precipitation totals.

What this does not know

Trail grooming, avalanche danger, road closures, drifting, shade, aspect and elevation differences can dominate a real outing. Verify those locally before travel.
