This calculator applies the published fare formula. Unusual or unconventional vehicles can be classified and priced by the Mackinac Bridge Authority at the crossing.
Current fare schedule
Passenger vs. “all other” vehicles
Passenger cars, motorcycles, station wagons, SUVs, pickup trucks, school buses, and qualifying two-axle four-tire vans.
Vehicles outside passenger characteristics, including tractor trailers, buses, motorhomes, and step or cube vans.
How towing is charged
The official rule classifies the entire combination by the lead vehicle. Anything towed is normally charged the lead vehicle's per-axle rate. That means a passenger vehicle towing a two-axle trailer is usually four total axles at $2 per axle, or $8.
The motorhome-towing-auto exception
A motorhome is charged $5 for each of its axles. If it tows a passenger auto, the auto is charged at the passenger-auto rate of $2 per axle. Select the exception in the calculator only for that specific combination.

Accepted payment methods
The Bridge Authority currently accepts:
- Cash
- Credit and debit cards
- Apple Pay
- Google Pay
- MacPass prepaid accounts
Credit/debit fee: the Authority currently applies a 2.3% fee to credit and debit card transactions. Its fare page says cash, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and MacPass are quicker than credit/debit cards.

Mackinac Bridge toll questions
Is the Mackinac Bridge toll charged both ways?
The fare schedule is a crossing charge, so the calculator shows one way. A round trip consists of two separately charged crossings.
Does a trailer pay its own rate?
Usually no separate class is assigned. Towed axles use the lead vehicle's per-axle rate, except when a motorhome tows a passenger auto.
Does the toll calculator include driver assistance?
No. The official driver-assistance service costs an additional $10 plus the calculated vehicle toll. See the driver assistance guide.
Can the Authority charge a different amount?
Yes. The Authority reserves the right to classify and determine the charge for unusual or unconventional vehicle designs, weights, or construction.
