Can I See the Northern Lights Tonight?

A local answer built from the aurora signal, darkness, clouds and moonlight—not a Kp number pretending to be a visibility forecast.

What the answer is actually combining

OVATION: NOAA’s 30–90 minute modeled aurora signal near your location. Kp: broad geomagnetic context. NWS: local darkness and cloud cover. USNO: moon phase and illumination when available.

What can still ruin a good-looking result

Light pollution, a blocked northern horizon, haze, moon glare and a fast-changing aurora can all matter. OVATION is not a percent chance of seeing aurora and Kp is not a local visibility forecast.
